On Thursday, Sept 8th, over 180 people gathered in downtown Chicago to celebrate One Acre Fund's achievements over the past five years, discuss future plans, and honor some of the key individuals contributing to One Acre Fund's inception and expansion. Guests enjoyed hands-on demonstrations of One Acre Fund planting techniques, and a chance to chat with One Acre Fund Founder, Andrew Youn. We thank both Roger Thurow and Barry Merkin for their remarks. We are so appreciative to all who attended or supported our most successful gala yet. |

Join us for lunch, learning and book signing with Harry Kraemer, author, executive and value–based leader. Drawing from first–hand experiences, Kraemer will offer us a framework to adopt the four principles of values–based leadership. One Acre Fund's own Tony Kalm will give a briefing on the latest OAF news from the field. You'll have the chance to engage in discussion with our speaker, One Acre Fund board and supporters.
About Our Speaker
Harry M. Jansen Kraemer is a professor of management and strategy at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, where he teaches in the MBA and the Executive MBA programs. He is an executive partner with Madison Dearborn Partners, one of the largest private equity firms in the United States where he consults with CEOs and other senior executives of companies in MDP's extensive portfolio. Kraemer is the former chairman and chief executive officer of Baxter International Inc., a multi–billion–dollar global healthcare company. He is the author of "From Values to Action: The Four Principles of Value–Based Leadership" and is donating all the proceeds from the book to One Acre Fund, in support of OAF founder Andrew Youn and his team of value–based leaders.

One Acre Fund Chicago Lunch and Learn on June 2nd: Engaging Community In Our Own Backyard
On June 2nd, One Acre Fund supporters met for lunch and informative conversation about a health-focused initiative in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago. Dr. Daniel Derman from the Northwestern Medicine team will presented on the application of the "Four R's" method of community engagement to improve health outcomes for people with diabetes. Reach, Register, Reduce and Replicate, is the model used by NMH and mirrors the engagement methods adapted by One Acre Fund for establishing new markets in Africa.
One Acre Fund Chicago Lunch and Learn on March 10th - Social Innovation, Social Impact
On March 10th, members and supporters of the One Acre Fund Chicago Investment Council met at IDEO for lunch and informative conversation about the phenomenon of social innovation and its phenomenal social impact. Jason Saul, of Mission Measurement and author of Social Innovation, shared 5 Strategies for Driving Business Growth through Social Change. OAF Chicago Chapter Chair Jamie Wesner briefed attendees on the latest social impact data from the field with a focus on One Acre Fund's success in re-thinking the way chronic hunger is solved in Africa. Jason and Jamie’s remarks highlighted the connection between measuring results and improving results

On Thursday, Oct. 21, over 130 people gathered in downtown Chicago to celebrate One Acre Fund's ongoing achievements in the past year, discuss future plans, and honor some of the key individuals contributing to One Acre Fund's expansion. We again thank Steve Wilson, CEO of CF Industries and the first recipient of One Acre Fund's Farmers' Humanitarian Award, for his remarks. Overall the gala was a tremendous success, with attendees commenting that the presentations, photos, and sample materials helped to personalize the work that One Acre Fund is doing, and rejuvenate us all in our mission to empower subsistence farmers and eradicate global hunger. We are so appreciative to all who attended or supported the event. |

One Acre Fund Chicago Lunch and Learn on September 20th: Food Politics - What You Need to Know
On September 20th, One Acre Fund friends and supporters met for lunch and to learn about the politics of food policy and how it affects poor farmers in developing countries. Robert Paarlberg briefed the group on the latest research on agricultural trends and practices, taking an even-handed look at the local and organic food movements and drawing a connection between agricultural policy and the work of the One Acre Fund in using markets to address the root causes of hunger. The event was held on Monday, September 20th from 12-1:30 pm at Blackie's, located at 755 South Clark St., Chicago.
