Global Croptake

Our ‘Global Croptake’, takes a look at the threats to global food production and security since the Paris Agreement and into our future.

Smallholder farmers are witnessing the devastating impacts of the climate crisis on their crops, harvests, diets, and families. This is not a hypothetical future risk; it is a reality they are facing today. In spite of this, smallholders have an opportunity to combat global heating, secure livelihoods, build soil health and safeguard a world for future generations.

One Acre Fund is calling on the COP28 community to recognise the power and agency that smallholders possess, by explicitly referencing smallholder farmers in the COP28 cover text and acknowledging both the barriers they face and the opportunities they hold.

As countries take stock of progress made on climate commitments and publish their findings in the Global Stocktake, One Acre Fund is taking a look at the threats to global food production and security since the Paris Agreement and what the future could look like.

Troubling Trends

Through the ‘Global Croptake’, One Acre Fund is asking the questions: What kind of future are we collectively sowing? And how can we ensure smallholders are supported to adapt to this future?
